French equal arm balance, 18th century. The folding cupid's bow steel beam is 13 cm long (unfolded), and the brass pans are 2.9 cm in diameter. In the center of the pans is stamped a shield-like mark with the initials "MD". Identified by Kisch. Illustrated in Kisch. Scales & Weights, Figure 11, p. 39.
