MID-ATLANTIC SCALE SUMMIT
OCTOBER 2009
In
the first event for the eastern part of the country, seventeen avid scale
collectors from Canada, Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, New York,
Pennsylvania and Virginia got together at the home
of Mary and Jerry Katz in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, on
October 3, 2009. The weather cooperated with a beautiful fall afternoon. Visitors marveled at Jerry's wonderful collection, and he brought out a number of recent
acquisitions that had many guests drooling.
Appetites were soon whetted with delicious pulled pork barbecue made by the Katz's daughter, accompanied by a large assortment of goodies brought by guests. Attendees brought a number of scales to learn more about their history or mechanisms, and everyone had a great time talking either scales or Penn State football.
