2023 Convention:
May 4-7, Washington, DC

Washington, DC, is a multicultural metropolis boasting our most renowned national monuments, significant memorials and world-class museums. It beckons visitors to walk in the footprints of history and discover the remarkable treasure trove it offers. It is within its environs that we will come together on May 4 through May 7 for our 2023 ISASC Convention.

Our convention headquarters will be Marriott’s Courtyard Tysons McLean. The Silver Line Metro Station is a block away giving you easy access to the city and the freedom to explore all the highlights the area is known for. Just footsteps from the hotel are Tysons Corner Center and Tysons Galleria, offering unrivaled proximity to the area's top shopping, dining and entertainment.

The convention will kick off Thursday evening with dinner at Maggiano’s Little Italy just across the street from our hotel. This is the time to start catching up with your fellow Scalies. In the relaxed ambience it is easy to build the camaraderie that will set the tone for the entire weekend.

Friday will be a full agenda with visits to two scale collections. The first stop will be at the home of Kurt and Ann B. Following lunch at the Bear Chase Brewing Company, touted to be one of the best eateries in the area, we will visit Jeff and Elizabeth S. to see the second collection. The day will conclude with the informal Friday night get-together. It is a refuge where no one tires of scale talk.

Saturday activities follow the normal convention schedule of a presentation session in the morning, lunch and the Silent Auction in the afternoon. The evening is reserved for our gala reception and banquet. Sunday morning will include Show-and-Tell and the all-member business meeting.

Because of the numerous things to do in this area and the wealth of sightseeing opportunities, this year’s convention will not include Sunday afternoon and Monday activities. We are encouraging everyone to join with others or go out individually to see the sights.

All members are welcome to come and enjoy time with your fellow Scalies. Your hosts have arranged a terrific weekend for your enjoyment. President Fred R., along with all the board members, extends a personal invitation to join them. If you have attended conventions in the past, you know what it’s all about. If you have not attended, now is the time to check out for yourself why so many members come year after year. See you there!
